Preliminary Evaluation
For my preliminary task i worked with Tommy, rob, Katie and Louise. We all had our on own little task ; I was the camera man with a little help from Tommy, Louise drew out the story board and told us what and when to do it and rob and Katie where the two actors. Part from these individual roles we all helped add ideas on directing the film. We used a video camera and a tripod to help make the camera steady, which we borrowed from the liabery. We also used a Apple Mac for the editing of the film. When filming we used many techniques such as the match on action for when we were opening the door, 180 degree rule for when Katie and rob had a conversation and many other camera shots to help add an effect. We also had relevant music in the background which was an diagetic affect which we created on garage band to add tension to the scene. We used mise-en-scene when Katie and rob were having conversation to make rob look big and dominant and Katie look small and helpless. To add affect we also used a dark room so that the lighting fitted withe scene. Rob wore a hoody with the hood up and a bandanna covering half his face so that the role he was playing looked more effective. In our a film, Barthes theory can be applied to the scene, for rob being the villan and Katie being the victim. Considering that we only had a short period of time due to the camera not working properly first, I think that we created a good piece, however if we were to do it again and have more time, i would change the dialogue a little and Robs character.

A good effort Kam. You have shown understanding of the key terms and evaluated their effect in your film as well. Rather than write that you "used mise en scene" you should write about how you "considered" it.
